Tracking the number of remaining calls

first of all – thanks for your great service!
i have a question: is there any way to track how many calls are remaining for a given month? (other than implement it by hand)

At the moment, this feature is available only for the PRO and PRO PDF plans. (PRO accounts have access to a specific api call that returns the number of requests done per day/week/month).

Is there any other way to track the number of requests?
Also your document says 500 calls/ day are allowed, What does “calls” mean in this context?
