During testing I used the free OCRSpace API version with Engine 3 to successfully recognize stylized text in my test images. Worked perfectly. I just upgraded to a PRO account and now any attempt to use Engine 3 times out, ever for ultra-simple images, with [OCR ERROR on page 1] E101: Timed out waiting for results.
Engine 2 works correctly (doesn’t time out) but mangles stylized words and makes multiple text recognition mistakes that Engine 3 didn’t.
I’d really like to be able use Engine 3 for these reasons. Any ideas what causes the timeout issue?

I have exactly the same situation here. Why does engine 3 works well with the free ocr space but not with the pro subscription?
I switched to Engine 5 and that seems to work as well as Engine 3 did. Would be great to get some official guidance here for going forward.
@rsalusbury OCR Engine 5 is deprecated. You can use it for now, but on the long run it will be replaced by the new OCR Engine 3.

Engine 3 is currently in beta. Because we know our PRO users prioritize stability and uptime, we always deploy new features to our Free Plan servers first. This allows us to ensure everything is running smoothly before moving to our production PRO/PRO PDF environments. Once we’ve confirmed the engine’s stability, we’ll roll it out to our PRO servers.
Everything is looking great so far, and we expect Engine 3 to be available for PRO users in February. I will update this post as soon as it goes live!
In the meantime, if you see any issues with the new ocr engine, please let us know.

OCR Engine3 (Beta) is now available on the PRO and PRO PDF servers, too.
We are currently rolling this out in phases, but we can enable it now on request for all PRO and PRO PDF users. There is no additional charge for this new OCR engine, just a few restrictions for the number of conversions apply.
