How to run macros from javascript or external sources?

I am aware that Run can run macros and XRun can run external applications.

But is there a way for external applications or javascript expressions to call and run macros?

Excellent, that looks like it fits the bill. And I see that I can create bookmarklets of different macros from the in-browser GUI, which are just javascript functions that I imagine I would be able to call from other pages. Thank you!
