Desktop Application / Xmodules Issues on Linux

System Configuration - Xmodules Status

EndeavorOS ------------ Arch based Linux
KDE Plasma ------------ desktop environment

Google Chrome -------- flatpak version ----------- NOT working
Chromium --------------- normal version ----------- working
Firefox -------------------- normal version ----------- working

  • Chromium and firefox work out of the box, simply running the install script or manually moving the xmodules files to the proper directory allows the browser extension to recognize and use xmodules for local/desktop side of the software.

  • Chrome does not work for desktop/xmodules.

Running the appimage or the source files installer scripts do not work.

  • I believe it is to due with the flatpak installation having a different directory structure than normally installed versions (or maybe to do with there being spaces in the directory path where I have my appimages installed).

  • But even if I manually move all of the files needed to the standard directory, as well as every other directory across the filesystem that is related to Chrome, it will not recognize the xmodules.

  • I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the browser extension, restarting the browser, uninstalling and reinstalling the xmodules files, and every other solution I could think of to no avail.
