I see that the Desktop Automation is getting updated very quickly. Is there an automatic update available for do we need to install the new version? Should we be installing the older version first or can it be installed on top.

Yes, currently you need to manually install the latest version.
But you do not need to uninstall the older version first. You can simply install the latest version on top of it.
